Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous on deciduous wood. I found them on Salix (northern Black Forest, in early October 2010), on blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and oak (Quercus robur, both eastern Swabian Alb).
Habitat:
Eupithecia exiguata inhabits hedge areas, forest coats, clearcuts and plantations as well as other locations that are dominated by woody plants.
Life cycle:
Eupithecia exiguata flies in a single generation from mid-April to early July. The caterpillar lives from June to early October. The pupa overwinters.
Remarks:
Eupithecia exiguata is distributed from the British Isles across Central and Northern Europe to east Asia (Amur region). It is lacking in much of Southern Europe (Iberia, southern Balkans etc.), but occurs in the north to Northern Scandinavia.
