Host plants:
The larvae seem to live in the first place on maple (Acer, e.g. A. campestre), but also on other deciduous woods, e.g. oak.

Habitat:
Alsophila aceraria inhabits especially deciduous and mixed woodland, but is sometimes also found in parks and hedges.

Life cycle:
The moths occur in late autumn mainly between late October and December. The eggs hibernate and the larvae develop in spring (April to early June)

Remarks:
Alsophila aceraria is quite widespread (though local) in Europe, but misses in the very South and North.



Alsophila aescularia
