Host plants:
The larvae feed especially on Medicago (e.g. alfalfa), but also other Fabaceae like Coronilla varia.
Habitat:
Isturgia arenacearia inhabits dry and warm habitats like steppes, nutrient-poor grasslands, open scrub or extensively managed arable land (alfalfa fields). In Hungary I recorded Isturgia arenacearia especially on sandy alfalfa fields.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The moths occur between April and September in two or three generations.
Remarks:
Isturgia arenacearia occurs from Corsica and Sardinia, southern Switzerland and E-Austria to the east and southeast.
