Host plants:
The larvae feed on various deciduous woods like especially oaks. I recorded them on Pyrus spinosa in Lesbos island.
Habitat:
Erannis ankeraria inhabits dry and warm, open woodlands, maquis, garigues and other places with host plants.
Life cycle:
The adults occur between mid-February and into April. The larva develops until late May or into June. In Lesbos island, they were mature around 20.-25. May.
Remarks:
Erannis ankeraria occurs from E-Austria and NE-Italy across Hungary, parts of Romania and the Balkans as well as Turkey to Iran.
