Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous on woods, very rarely also on some perennials.

Habitat:
Ourapteryx sambucaria inhabits grove rich habitats of all kinds far into the settlements.

Life cycle:
The caterpillar overwinters and is fully-grown in early or mid-May. It can be searched at night with a pocket lamp. The moths fly from June to early August and are strictly nocturnal.

Remarks:
Ourapteryx sambucaria is quite widespread in Europe and is found in Asia to the Altai.
