Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous on deciduous woods such as Salix, Betula, Carpinus, Quercus etc.

Habitat:
Campaea margaritata inhabits grove rich habitats of all kinds well into the villages.

Life cycle:
The half-grown caterpillar overwinters free clung to branches and is mature in late April or in May. The moths fly in a single (higher altitudes or cold areas) or two generations from mid-May to early October. In just a single generation, the maximum is usually in July.

Remarks:
Campaea margaritata is distributed from Northwest Africa across Europe (except in Northern Scandinavia) to Western Asia.
