Host plants:
The larvae feed usually on poplars and willows (Salix and Populus, often Populus tremula).

Habitat:
Trichopteryx carpinata inhabits all habitats that are rich in host plants, such as wetlands, clearings and open woodland.

Life cycle:
The moths occur between March and early May. The larvae develop in May and June singly and openly on the host plants. The pupa hibernates.

Remarks:
Trichopteryx carpinata occurs from Europe (misses partly in southernmost regions) to Sibiria.
