Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous on deciduous wood. I found them on Vaccinium myrtillus and Betula.

Habitat:
Selenia dentaria inhabits grove rich habitats such as forests, dwarf shrub heath, parks, hedge areas and similar places. I found it in the west Austrian Silvretta Area still in 1800m above sea level.

Life cycle:
The moths fly in usually two generations (at high altitudes in only one generation) from March to early June and again from late June to August or September. At high altitudes, the maximum is probably reached in June and July. The caterpillars live from May to September/October. The pupa overwinters.

Remarks:
Selenia dentaria is widespread in Europe and temperate Asia to the Pacific.
