Host plants:
The larvae are polyphagous in the ground-near herb layer.
Habitat:
Hoplodrina ambigua inhabits a broad variety of habitats in the open country and also on woodland clearings and edges. The moth prefers dry and warm places, such as limestone grasslands, rocky slopes or sand dunes.
Life cycle:
The moths occur most often in two generations between May and September, but in higher altitudes often only in one generation between late June and August. The larva hibernates.
Remarks:
Hoplodrina ambigua occurs from N-Africa across Europe (not in the north) to Asia (Altai).
