Host plants:
The larvae are polyphagous on herbs (especially Fabaceae, Asteraceae, Dipsacaceae).
Habitat:
Heliothis adaucta inhabits dry and warm places like steppe grasslands, dry slopes, rocky areas, sandy grasslands, pastures etc.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The larvae occur between late April or Mai and August/early September most often in two generations. The larvae develop between late May and July and again in late summer/early autumn.
Remarks:
Heliothis adaucta is widespread in SE-Europe and temperate Asia to Japan. To the Northwest it is found up to E-Austria and E-Germany (especially Saxonia and S-Brandenburg).
The taxon comprises the former H. maritima bulgarica. Heliothis maritima is now considered to be restricted to the Atlantic coast from France to Denmark.
