Host plants:
The larvae are very polyphagous. I found larvae in Fuerteventura on Nicotiana glauca in February 2007 and at Christmas 2008 in La Gomera on Calendula. Additional observations were made in the Canaries and Madeira on Galinsoga, Urtica, Geranium, Lycopersicum, Bidens, Bituminaria, Lotus, Sonchus, Echium, Brassica and others more.
Habitat:
Cornutiplusia circumflexa inhabits farmland, open slopes with scattered host plants, coastal areas and also woodland edges. I observed larvae and moths in the mountains of Madeira and La Palma up to 1200m asl.
Life cycle:
Cornutiplusia circumflexa developes continuously without diapause and is encountered throughout the year.
Remarks:
Cornutiplusia circumflexa is distributed in Africa, on the Atlantic Islands and the warmer parts of Asia. In Europe it occurs in the southern Mediterranean, further north only singly as migratory species.
