Host plants:
The larvae feed in the transition zone of root and stems of tussock grasses.
Habitat:
Luperina rubella inhabits most often rocky places like rocky slopes in the mountains or rocky clearings in open woodland from the lowlands up to 2000m, mostly between 400 and 1600m.
Life cycle:
The larva hibernates. I found it still small on Mount Parnassus in 1800m in early May 2016. The moths occur between August and autumn (October/November).
Remarks:
Luperina rubella occurs in S-Europe (northward to Valais) and parts of W-Asia.
