Host plants:
The larvae usually feed within the flowers of Asteraceae, especially yellow flowers of the Inula type. I recorded them in flowers of Inula montana in Spain (Sierra de Albarracin).
Habitat:
Eublemma parva inhabits dry and hot habitats of all kinds (often nutrient-poor grasslands, rocky slopes and scrubland).
Life cycle:
The moths occur in several generations between spring and autumn. I recorded the young larvae quite numerous within the Inula flowers where they had been totally concealed. Pupation also occurs at least partly within these flower/seed buds.
Remarks:
Eublemma parva occurs in the warmer parts of the Old World from Africa across S-Europe to E-Asia. It is occasionally also found as a migratory species in Central Europe where it may become temporarily resident in favourable places (promoted by global warming?).
