Host plants:
The species lives on Euphrasia species, especially in some regions on E. rostkoviana.
Habitat:
Perizoma blandiata inhabits limestone grasslands, pastures, juniper meadows, roadsides, drier, gappy marsh lands and similar nutrient-poor sites with the larval host plant.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates and the moths fly mainly in July and August (rarely already in June). The caterpillar is found from August to early October, with a focus between late August and mid-September.
Endangerment: endangered
Endangerment factors:
This species is endangered in many places as nutrient-poor, extensively managed landscape components are becoming ever rarer since decades (agriculture, eutrophication, overbuilding, dense afforestation, succession),
Remarks:
Perizoma blandiata occurs in Europe and the more western parts of temperate Asia.
