The larvae live in the herbal layer (September 2012) [N]

Host plants:
The larvae live polyphagous in the herbal layer. I found them for example on Rumex and Polygonum.

Habitat:
Ochropleura plecta is a mesophilic, common species without special requirements. The butterfly is also found in gardens. It reproduces most often in forb communities and woodland edges.

Life cycle:
Ochropleura plecta usually flies in two overlapping generations from May to September. The pupa overwinters. I found the caterpillar for example in late August during the day feeding on Rumex obtusifolius (fallow meadow edge on a ditch). Insgesamt ist die Raupe von Juni bis Anfang November mit Schwerpunkt im September zu beobachten.

Remarks:
The distribution is Holarctic.
