Host plants:
The larvae feed on Artemisia vulgaris and Tanacetum vulgare, supposedly also on other related taxa.

Habitat:
Eucarta virgo inhabits humid to dry habitats like fallow land, higher-growing and more nutrient-rich grasslands on sand, tall forb communities in river valleys and similar places.

Life cycle:
The moths appear between May and July and occasionally again in a partial second generation in August/September. The larvae live especially in July and August, more rarely again from September. The pupa hibernates.

Remarks:
Eucarta virgo occurs from SE-Europe to Japan. In recent decades it has expanded its distribution more and more towards the Northwest. Nowadays it is also found in large areas of the Eastern Half of Austria, E-Germany (e.g. Saxony, Brandenburg) and even in E-Bavaria. Single records succeeded even more Northwesterly.
