Host plants:
The larva feeds on grasses such as Brachypodium sylvaticum.
Habitat:
Apamea scolopacina is a forest species, which is observed in the grassy fringes of riparian forests and further more in mesophilic to damp forests (more rarely also in drier ones).
Life cycle:
The caterpillar overwinters and is observed mainly in May and June. The moths fly especially in July and August.
Remarks:
Apamea scolopacina is distributed in most of Europe and temperate Asia to Japan.
