Panthea coenobita inhabits spruce forests of all kinds, but especially under cool, humid conditions.
Life cycle:
Panthea coenobita flies in a single generation mainly in June and July. The caterpillars are found especially in August and September. They sit openly on the branches .
Remarks:
Panthea coenobita is distributed in the coniferous forest zone from Europe to Japan. It is widespread for example in spruce forests in the northern foreland of the Alps. Panthea coenobita is one of the few species that has benefited from the sprawling spruce cultivation.
