Host plants:
The larvae feed on Dipsacaceae, especially Scabiosa. In Lower Austria (Steinfeld) I recorded them on Scabiosa ochroleuca. It is not clear if records from other plant families are correct.
Habitat:
Omphalophana antirrhinii inhabits nutrient-poor, unimproved grasslands, steppes, dry and warm pastures and fallow land.
Life cycle:
The adults occur usually in one generation in May and June. The larvae occur most often in June and July. Occasionally a very partial second generation may appear.
Remarks:
Omphalophana antirrhinii occurs in parts of S-Europe and W-Asia. From SE-Europe it stretches into Eastern Central Europe, where it goes as far North as E-Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and S-Poland.
