Host plants:
The larvae are polyphagous on herbs and ferns. I found most caterpillars on Urtica dioica, Atropa belladonna, Senecio fuchsii, ferns and Circaea species.

Habitat:
Euplexia lucipara inhabits moist woodlands of all kinds The caterpillars live along paths and other shady internal edges and can be found during the day, usually together with those of Melanchra persicariae.

Life cycle:
Euplexia lucipara flies in mostly a single generation from late May to early August. In warm years and/or in the lowlands a partial second generation is performed. I found the caterpillars from late July to late September/October.

Remarks:
Euplexia lucipara is widespread and occurs from the Maghreb across Europe and parts of Asia to Japan.
