Host plants:
Grasses, according to literature also herbs.
Habitat:
Chersotis ocellina inhabits Alpine mats mostly from 1500 to 2600m above sea level.
Life cycle:
The caterpillar overwinters. I found them in Montafon and Ticino sometimes quite numerous in Festuca-tufts in the search for Erebia larvae. They were then successfully bred with Festuca. The moths fly in July and August and visit flowers during the day.
Remarks:
Chersotis ocellina is widespread in the Alps. It also occurs in the Pyrenees and some mountainous regios of Asia.
