Host plants:
The larvae feed on Misopates orontium (L.) Raf. (Scrophulariaceae/Plantaginaceae), secondarily probably also on Linaria or Antirrhinum.
Habitat:
Calophasia acuta inhabits dry and hot places from sea level up to about 600m, especially rocky places, garigues, extensively managed olive groves and fallow land with the host plant.
Life cycle:
The moths occur ealy between February and May. The larvae are usually found in April and May (in Cyprus more in April, in Samos Island more in May). The pupa hibernates usually at least twice, often multiple (rearing results).
Remarks:
Calophasia acuta occurs in SE-Europe (especially Greece, S-Bulgaria, S-FYROM) and W-Asia (Cyprus, Turkey to Iraq).
