Host plants:
According to present knowledge the larvae feed only on Ortegia hispanica L. (Caryophyllaceae).
Habitat:
Anarta gredosi inhabits sandy road sides, embankments, ruderal areas and gappy, sandy grasslands on silicious soils between about 300 and 1800 m. Such stands of the host plant are widespread but usually small-scale only.
Life cycle:
The moths occur supposedly mostly in two generations between April and September, according to altitude. In upper altitudes, the moths should mainly fly in late May and June and again in a partial second generation in August and early September. In the lowlands a partial third generation may be involved. The larvae have been recorded commonly and in all instars in the Spanish Sierra de Gredos between 1100 and more than 1700 m in late June 2025. They gave a second generation. The pupa is expected to hibernate.
Remarks:
Anarta gredosi is a local endemic of the western Iberian Peninsula with occurrence in the Sierra de Gredos and westwards to Portugal and southwestwards to Cáceres.
The larvae are easily distinguished from as imago similar species.
