Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous on deciduous wood (Prunus, Salix, Quercus, etc.).

Habitat:
Selenia tetralunaria inhabits grove rich habitats of all types, such as forests, parks, etc. I found the caterpillar for example in a floodplain of the river Iller (Southern Germany) on Prunus spinosa.

Life cycle:
The moths fly in two generations from March to May or early June and from mid-June to August. The caterpillars are found mostly from May to July and again from August to late September. The pupa overwinters.

Remarks:
Selenia tetralunaria is distributed from Southwestern Europe across much of Europe and temperate Asia to Japan. In Southeastern Europe, it is largely missing.
