Host plants:
The caterpillar lives mostly on Quercus, rarely also on other woods, e.g. Cistus.

Habitat:
Cyclophora puppillaria colonizes oak-rich sites from the coast up to 1200 meters above sea level.

Life cycle:
Cyclophora puppillaria has several generations from spring to autumn. In north Africa, the moth flies throughout the year. I found the caterpillar in Greece near the coast on Quercus coccifera.

Remarks:
Cyclophora puppillaria is widespread in Southern Europe and from north Africa to Iran. It migrates in the summer occasionally to Central Europe.
