Host plants:
The slightly polyphagous larvae usually live on Asteraceae-species like Sonchus or Lactuca.
Habitat:
Amphipyra tetra inhabits dry and warm habitats like rocky slopes, maquis, dry grasslands, fallow land and edges.
Life cycle:
The egg hibernates. The larvae occur between March and late May or June. The moths fly between June and autumn.
Remarks:
Amphipyra tetra occurs in NW-Africa, S-Europe and parts of temperate Asia. In Europe it ist found northward up to the S-Alps (Switzerland, Austria).
