Host plants:
The larvae feed on Artemisia maritima.
Habitat:
Narraga tessularia inhabits salt steppes with the host plant. Saragossa porosa is sometimes a companion species.
Life cycle:
Narraga tessularia has several (most often two) generations between May and August/early September. The larvae are found between late June and early October. I recorded moths and mature larvae simultaneously in Hungary in late July 2020.
Endangerment factors:
In eastern central Europe Narraga tessularia has been pushed back to national parks. Other habitats are usually already destroyed. But in Hungary near the Kiskunsagi Nemzeti Park I recorded it still just outside the park.
Remarks:
Narraga tessularia occurs from E-Austria (Neusiedler See) and Slovakia very locally eastward across Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria to Russia where its main distribution area is located in the S-Russian steppe belt.
