Host plants:
The caterpillar lives mainly on Salix and Populus, rarely according to literature also on other woods.
Habitat:
Lomaspilis marginata inhabits softwood rich habitats of all kinds.
Life cycle:
The moths fly in two partially overlapping generations from late April to August. They like to rest on leaves (bird dropping mimetics). The caterpillar is usually found from June to September. The pupa hibernates.
Remarks:
Lomaspilis marginata is widespread in Europe (except in the southernmost area) and temperate Asia.
