Host plants:
The caterpillar lives polyphagous on herbs and dwarf shrubs. I found the caterpillar in June 2010 in the Austrian Oetztal on Vaccinium uliginosum (2500m asl).

Habitat:
Pygmaena fusca lives in the alpine zone: dwarf-shrub belts, debris corridors, pastures etc.

Life cycle:
The caterpillar overwinters. I found them in June. The moths fly in July and August.

Remarks:
Pygmaena fusca has a arcto-alpine distribution: high elevations in the Alps and from Northern Scandinavia to Kamchatka.
