Host plants:
I observed the larvae only on Acer sempervirens. But probably also other woods are used.
Habitat:
Crocallis helenaria inhabits dry and warm scrub. I found the larvae in Crete (Ida-mountains) between 900 and 1500m asl.
Life cycle:
The larvae live in spring from late March to May or early June. The moths occur in late summer and early autumn.
Remarks:
Crocallis helenaria is endemic to Crete.
