Nutrition:
Plants (especially herbs)

Habitat:
Poecilimon hoelzeli inhabits forb communities from the humid to the moderately dry area. On Olympus I observed it in a humid, grazed, higher-growing herb community in 1000m asl together with the hesperiid butterfly Pyrgus armoricanus as well as in 2000m asl in drier forb comunities. It also occurred in stands of Pteridium aquilinum at woodland edges.

Life cycle:
Poecilimon hoelzeli is adult in lower altitudes from June or even late May, in higher ones more from July and lives according to site until August or September. The quite large animals are generally observed on herbs or small bushes.

Remarks:
Poecilimon hoelzeli belongs to the P. ornatus-group and occurs in the Balkans in only a small area from the very southwest of Bulgaria and south Macedonia to Central Greece.
