Habitat:
Chorthippus corsicus inhabits places with rock and scree in pastures, on rocky slopes, old quarries and along road side embankments in the mountains between 500 and more than 2200m.
Life cycle:
The adults appear in summer and autumn. The usually very long-winged Chorthippus brunneus is always a companion species. In good sites, which are often small-scale, Chorthippus corsicus may be very abundant.
Remarks:
Chorthippus corsicus is endemic to Corsica. There are two subspecies: corsicus corsicus with slightly to heavily reduced elytres and corsicus pascuorum with hardly reduced elytres. I recorded almost no individuals with significantly reduced elytres in Haut-Asco (pascuorum), but a few individuals with only slightly reduced elytres in the Col de Vergio (corsicus).
