Habitat:
Italohippus modestus inhabits rocky and sunny places between 1800 and 200m.

Life cycle:
The adults occur between mid-July and October. During warm weather conditions the animals are very active in the fast heating stony places. Then the typical sounds of the males (dschhh) are omnipresent.

Remarks:
Italohippus modestus is endemic to Monte Terminillo near Rieti (Central Apennines, Italy).

Hints on determination:
Italohippus modestus is larger than I. monticola and furthermore geographically separated. The males are lighter, the antennae less whitish.
