Habitat:
Calliptamus coelesyriensis inhabits screes and rocky, sparsely vegetated mountain slopes, obviously mostly on calcareous substrates. In the East Aegean Island of Samos I found Calliptamus coelesyriensis between 800 and 1400m on slopes that seemed to be devoid of any vegetation from the distance.
Remarks:
Calliptamus coelesyriensis occurs from Greece (here only very locally) across Asia Minor, the Near and Middle East (e.g. Iran) to S-Russia.
There are as well blackish as (more common) light individuals.
