Habitat:
Dociostaurus jagoi inhabits dry and warm places with scarce vegetation such as coastal dunes, stony areas or dry river beds.
Remarks:
Dociostaurus jagoi occurs in Southwestern Europe (Iberian Peninsula, Baleares, Corsica, Sardinia and southwest France) and probably also NW-Africa. Furthermore it is found in the East Egean (Greece) and from Asia Minor to Iran (inc. Cyprus, Israel).
Hints on determination:
Dociostaurus jagoi is very similar to Dociostaurus genei. The best distinguishing structures are the male penis valves which are elongated with pointed tip in D. genei, but short and curved in D. jagoi.
Furthermore, the teeth of the stridulatory organ (hind femora) are more numerous in D. jagoi (39-76 versus 22-35).
