Habitat:
Tropidopola cylindrica ususally inhabits reeds in wetlands. Occasionally it is also found in Juncus stands or in coastal dunes on Ammophila.
Life cycle:
The adults hibernate and are found especially between August and May/June. Larval development takes place in summer, partially up to autumn. The animals usually rest stretched out on blades or stems and flee with a flying jump.
Remarks:
Tropidopola cylindrica occurs in parts of S-Europe (Iberian Peninsula, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Baleares, parts of mainland Italy), of Africa and Asia (Middle East). In Europe, the similar T. graeca is found in SE-Italy and Greece. This species also occurs in adjacing Asia Minor, Cyprus and the Near East.
