Habitat:
Ephippiger cavannai inhabits woodland margins, stands of Pteridium aquilinum, brooms, scrub and generally bushy pastures.
Life cycle:
The adults appear in summer and autumn. They often rest in mimetic position with stretched out legs and antennae.
Remarks:
Ephippiger cavannai is endemic to Italy and especially common in Kalabria and some northern adjacent regions (not in Apulia). To the north it is rarely found up to the latitude of Rome within the Apennine mountains.
