Habitat:
Parasteropleurus martorellii inhabits pastures, sunny grasslands and garrigues. I recorded Parasteropleurus martorellii in a nutrient-poor and only seldom grazed pasture with much Artemisia between pine woodland in about 1600m in the Sierra del Segura.
Life cycle:
I found the adults especieally in the small Artemisia bushes. The male singing was crucial for detecting the population. Parasteropleurus martorellii should be found as adult between early summer and autumn, according to altitude. In the lowlands most individuals are dead until late summer.
Remarks:
Parasteropleurus martorellii is endemic to Spain. It is especially found between Almeria and Alicant in a broad stripe along the coast. To the north, the Sierra del Segura and the southernmost tip of Albacete province are reached. A separated population group is known also in a stripe near the coast in the region of Barcelona in the northeast of Spain.
