Habitat:
I recorded Pycnogaster gaditana together with Euryparyphes terrulentus und Apteromantis aptera in road embankments with grass and Cynara through extensively managed bull pastures near Puerto de Galiz (province of Cadiz). Generally pastures, garigues, (woodland) edges and similar places are the main habitat types. At Puerto de Galiz no dependance on stones has been observed. The individuals retreated into dense grasses, clusters of Cynara leaves and dwarf shrubs.

Life cycle:
I recorded already large larvae in late March 2019. Thus development should start with the autumn rains. The adults appear between April and June, probably only rarely and only in higher altitudes still in July or even August.

Remarks:
Pycnogaster gaditana occurs in Andalucia where it is restricted mainly to the province of Cadiz from 0-1400m. But its eastern limit is not well known so far.
