Habitat:
Isophya hospodar inhabits herb-rich grasslands, open scrub, woodland edges, mountain slopes and similar sites. I recorded it quite commonly in a Verbascum-dominated pasture where the animals rested on the large Verbascum leaves (E-Rhodopes).
Life cycle:
In the lowlands the adults are observed mainly in April and May. In late May 2019 I only recorded a few last females near Loutros. In the mountains in about 1000m most adults appear in May and June.
Remarks:
Isophya hospodar is endemic to the eastern Balkan Peninsula. It occurs especially in SE-Bulgaria and NE-Greece, but has also a few fragmented outposts in southeastern Romania (Dobrogea), central Bulgaria and European Turkey. In NE-Greece it is quite widespread in the region to the north and northeast of Alexandroupolis (from the coast to the eastern Rhodopes, easternmost Thrace).
