Nutrition:
The larvae live on bushes, the adults on conifers (espially spruce).
Habitat:
Barbitistes constrictus inhabits coniferal forest (spruce, alos pine).
Life cycle:
Adults appear between late June and October. They are seldom recorded near the ground, especially after thunderstorms or in autumn.
Remarks:
Barbitistes constrictus occurs in coniferous forests westwards to Germany. It is expanding its range and is already found in Baden-Württemberg. In the south it occurs e.g. in Bulgaria (e.g. Rila).
