Host plants:
The larvae feed on Cistaceae, especially Cistus sp.
Habitat:
Psilogaster loti inhabits dry and warm, Cistus-rich habitats, so especially the Mediterranean garrigue and open mountain slopes.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The moths occur in several generations. The larvae live more singly, openly and are very conspicuous on the low Cistus shrubs. I recorded many larvae in and around the national park Peneda-Gerês in northern Portugal in late October 2013.
Remarks:
Psilogaster loti occurs in the Iberian Peninsula and reaches locally the French east Pyrenees.
