Metrioptera fedtschenkoi (Saussure, 1874)

Nutrition:
Grasses, also herbs or small insects

Habitat:
Metrioptera fedtschenkoi inhabits more extensive, wet meadows, stream banks, clearcuttings, pastures, forest edges and similar places.

Life cycle:
The adults occur from late June to October.

Endangerment factors:
Metrioptera fedtschenkoi suffers heavy losses in lowlands due to the agricultural intensification. Overall, however, it is quite adaptable.

Remarks:
Metrioptera fedtschenkoi represents Metrioptera roeselii south of the Alps and is similar in behaviour. The spread ranges from the Provence across the Southern Alps (about Ticino) until well into Asia (Kazakhstan).
