Habitat:
Acinipe hesperica inhabits dry and warm, partly bushy and often rocky habitats like garigues.
Life cycle:
The animals rest on twigs and trunks, but also rocks and also walk on the soil. Adults occur from late March to summer, probably with peak in May/June. The larvae develop from summer to spring.
Remarks:
Acinipe hesperica occurs in S-Spain (Andalusia, especially Malaga province, but locally also in other provinces) and in NW-Africa.
Hints on determination:
The females are distinctive because of their size (7-8 cm without antennae!). Related species are a bit smaller. Other characters refer to the pronotum that is very rugose and bears a thick but not so much arched middle keel.
