Host plants:
The larvae live polyphagously in the herb layer.
Habitat:
Spilosoma virginica inhabits various types of habitat such as gardens, open countryside, margins of shrub and forests.
Life cycle:
The pupa hibernates. The adults mostly occur in one or two generations.
Remarks:
Spilosoma virginica occurs in N-America. It was introduced to Europe and established a colony near Budapest from about 1950 to the 1970s. At the moment no colonies are known from Europe.
