Host plants:
The larvae are polyphagous, in the field presumably often on dune grasses like Ammophila, but also herbs.
Habitat:
Coscinia benderi inhabits coastal dunes.
Life cycle:
The moths obviously occur in several generations from spring to autumn (perhaps with a relative minimum in the hot and dry summer months). The larvae develop during winter.
Remarks:
Coscinia benderi is endemic to the Atlantic coast of S-Iberian Peninsula (approximately from the Algarve in Portugal to Huelva in Spain). According to latest knowledge (see literature) it is again considered a subspecies of Coscinia cribraria.
