Habitat:
Melanogryllus desertus inhabits open landscapes, often dry meadows, but occasionally also humid areas.

Life cycle:
Adults are usually found between May and July. They tend to keep themselves in dense vegetation.

Remarks:
Melanogryllus desertus occurs in Southern and Eastern Europe. It penetrates to the north approximately to the southern foothills of the Alps (Ticino, but here missing since many years) and to Slovakia.
