Host plants:
The larva feeds on shrubs of the rose family such as Prunus spinosa, Crataegus sp, Cotoneaster sp. and others.

Habitat:
Aglaope infausta inhabits bushy, warm grassland slopes, bushy steppe-like pastures, dry scrubland and open woodland with oaks, blackthorn, rocks berries and other.

Life cycle:
Aglaope infausta appears in one generation in June/July. The caterpillar overwinters and is especially easy to find in late April and May, e.g. by beating.

Endangerment factors:
In Central Europe Aglaope infausta occurs in a few places in the Middle Rhine Valley and Alsace, and is at very strong risk because of habitat loss due to reforestation, overbuilding or unsuitable maintainance. Southwest of the Alps, however, Aglaope infausta is quite common and less at risk, for example in the Valle di Susa (Italy: Piedmont) or in Southern France and Spain.

Remarks:
Aglaope infausta is widespread in Southwestern Europe and can be found in the Iberian Peninsula, Southern France, Western Germany and Northwestern Italy (Susa).
