Host plants:
Willows and poplars.
Habitat:
All grove dominated habitats. But often in moist mountain forests or riparian woodlands.
Life cycle:
Two generations from late April to August. The larva is recorded from June to early October. The young caterpillars produce a characteristic feeding pattern. The midrib of the leaf usually is spared when feeding and the larva rests on it. This midrib is not extended by feces and tissue, as is the case with those of the genus Limenitis.
Endangerment factors:
Not endangered.
Remarks:
Pterostoma palpina is widespread in most of Europe and temperate Asia.
