Host plants:
The larvae feed on Saxifraga aizoides and S. oppositifolia.
Habitat:
Polyommatus aquilo inhabits limestone habitats like mountain slopes, rocks or quarries from sea level in N-Norway up to 1000m.
Life cycle:
The butterflies occur between mid-June and July. The larva hibernates.
Remarks:
In N-Scandinavia Polyommatus aquilo occurs only very locally on calcareous underground in N-Norway, N-Sweden and N-Finland. The taxon used to be considered as a subspecies of A. glandon for long.
